The Indonesian Navy has awarded the construction of its new training ship, a 110 m sail. in length, to Freire Shipyards, through an International Public Tender of the Ministry of Defense of the Indonesian Republic, to which a total of 11 shipyards from around the world participated. After two years of meetings and celebrations, the award was published.

Astilleros Freire will have the Spanish company Oliver Design that will carry out the architectural project and the turnkey fitting out, in addition to the company Detlev Loell, in the basic design and supply of rigging and sails And Juanjo Alonso, an expert consultant in the design and construction of training ships, also participates in the project.

The new Indonesian training ship will be 110 meters long, 12 meters wide and 6 meters deep. The ship will have 3,350 square meters of sail area and will serve as a naval training platform with the capacity to accommodate 200 people on board, of which 120 will be cadets in training. Freire personnel will instruct Indonesian officers in the handling of the ship throughout the construction process, according to shipyard sources.

Freire highlighted that this award guarantees the viability of the shipyard, founded in 1895.
